Visiting Your Loved One In Our Chapel Of Rest

The Chapels of Rest at Thomas Furber & Co. are peaceful rooms with soft lighting and a respectful atmosphere.

All of our clients are welcome to visit and spend time with their loved one in a Chapel of Rest, regardless of which type of funeral you choose.

We just ask that you book an appointment with us so we can ensure that you have the privacy you need, and our team will make the necessary preparations.

Out-of-hours viewing can be provided at an additional cost.

Before you enter the Chapel of Rest, we will explain to you what to expect inside and how your loved one might look.

We will be available during your entire visit for support or for you to ask us any questions.

You can take as much or as little time as you need. There is no rush, and we will give you privacy unless you ask us otherwise.

You may want to say a few words, say a prayer, play some music, or simply sit in silence; it’s up to you.

You also may wish to bring a small item to leave with your loved one, such as a flower, a letter, or a photo.

If you have any specific cultural or religious rituals or practices that you wish to undertake, such as offering prayers, burning incense or bringing special items, please just let us know and we can make any special arrangements needed to accommodate these practices.

Visiting a loved one in a Chapel Of Rest is an emotional experience, and it’s normal to feel a range of different emotions. It’s important to give yourself time and space to process these feelings.

We can also arrange to bring your loved one home, either the day before or on the morning of the funeral. We can advise if this is possible, as access to the property may not allow this.
