How Much Will The Funeral Cost?

The total cost of the funeral is affected by the choices you make to personalise the funeral.

At Thomas Furber & Co., we are always fully transparent with our costs and explain each to ensure you fully understand the overall cost, allowing you to make the right choices for you and your budget.

We also explain funeral costs below, including the essential expenses for the funeral to go ahead, and the additional costs to personalise the funeral as you wish.

To help you decide on the right funeral for your loved one, we have created four easy-to-understand packages that bundle our services to create our most popular funerals.

These are our Bespoke Funeral, Simple Funeral, Intimate Cremation and Unattended Direct Cremation.

Funeral Packages And Pricing

Bespoke Funeral

from £3,150

Suitable for a traditional cremation or burial funeral as well as a more modern celebration of life service, our Bespoke Funeral provides you with the greatest range of options for personalisation and creating a truly special send off.

Simple Funeral

from £2,595

For those who don’t want all the fuss of a traditional funeral, and would prefer a simpler send off, our Simple Funeral provides a cremation or burial funeral service but with fewer options and choices available to lower the cost.

Intimate Cremation

from £1,880

This option gives you the opportunity for a small number of people to attend the crematorium for a short time, to witness the committal.

Direct Cremation

from £1,480

This is a cremation that takes place without a service or mourners present. It provides a basic coffin and the ashes are returned to you afterwards. Some families choose to arrange their own service at a later date for the scattering or interment of the ashes.

Understanding Funeral Costs

All funeral directors are legally required to publish their prices in the same format, so you can compare our prices to any of our competitors if you choose to do so. You can see these in our Standardised Price List and Additional Services Price List.

At Thomas Furber & Co., our services extend beyond what is shown on the Standardised Price List, and our Bespoke Funeral is our most popular package of services.

When we meet with you and discuss your personal requirements, we will provide you with an itemised estimate and explain each cost before we start making any arrangements on your behalf. Our fees are transparent, and the costs we publish are the costs we charge. There is also no VAT on funeral charges.

How To Pay For The Funeral

We will send an invoice to you two days after the funeral date, and settlement of your account is due within four weeks.

You can make payment by debit or credit card via Mastercard, Maestro, Visa, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay. We also accept bank transfers or cheques.

Getting Help With Funeral Costs

The responsibility of paying for the funeral lies with the Next of Kin. It is possible to request funds from the deceased’s bank account to pay for the funeral; you must provide them with an original certified copy of the death certificate.

In some circumstances, it may be possible to get help paying for some of the funeral costs from the Government if the person paying for it receives certain benefits. Find out more about the Funeral Expenses Payment.
